The world-renowned young architect and designer Marco Lavit is unveiling his first collaboration with Lelièvre Paris entitled Finis Terrae — a collection of rugs unlocking a visual journey of mythology and mysticism. Through essential lines arranged in vibrant, primitive and beguiling compositions, Marco Lavit explores geography, myths and our own imagination in three exclusive designs — Glauko, Purro and Xantho.

Playing with geometry like an inner music, with at times tonal (Glauko), or complementary and contrasting (Purro and Xantho) planes of colour, Marco Lavit’s rugs delve deep into an uncharted dimension, revealing the boundaries of the world as we know it — the point where the earth dissolves into the sea and the sea embraces the sky into a single mysterious and captivating horizon; where mankind’s imagination reaches out for answers.

The design of Finis Terrae was inspired by the magic of ancient Mani, the peninsula that extends from the Peloponnese into the Mediterranean, marking the limit between the Aegean and the Ionian seas (Glauko). It was believed its tip, the Southernmost point of continental Greece, was the gateway to the world of Hades (Purro). There, immersed in the Mediterranean and drenched in sunlight, one can just make out the mirage of the African sand coasts (Xantho). The promise of an exciting voyage!
